About the Chef

Meet Sophie

Sophie’s mother was French, from the Basque region in southwest France . Although Sophie studied Fine Art at Newcastle University, her passion was always for food. Building on her French heritage, Sophie opened her restaurant Sophie’s Restaurant in Minchinhampton in 1996. She took a break from it for a few years when her triplets Lucy, Rosalind and Sam were born in 1999. Sophie’s Restaurant ran successfully for 20 years, it won The Cotswold Life Restaurant of the year award and featured in the Good Food Guide.
When she decided to sell the restaurant, Sophie wanted to continue cooking. She decided that selling her home-made ice cream, which had always been very popular, would be a way of fulfilling her creative need. Sophie is passionate about using the best possible, local ingredients. She wanted to create ice creams that you would normally only find un a top quality restaurants for people to eat at home. She uses all natural ingredients including local organic milk, cream and eggs. The fruit for the ice cream often comes from friends’ and relations’ gardens as well as from her own.
